Default Stage 1 Download w/ FuelPak?

I installed V&H Big Shot Duals, AN Big Sucker and a FuelPak last Thursday. Does getting a Stage 1 download buy me anything I don't already have in performance?

Yes. It will buy you a higher rev limiter setting.

I have not done the factory download...bike runs *very* well with V&H settings.

I'm just about ready to do the same: VH BS Duels w/Fishtails, ANBS, and FP - waiting for the bike to come back from its 1000 mi checkup. BUt I thought that the only way to get a stage 1 download was with a SERT or PC. Isn't the FP just programmed with a canned map from V&H? BTW hows it running? Thanks.

Not getting this. You install a larger air filter and an exhaust that flows better, so you need a new Fuel/Air map to correctly administer the Fuel/Air mixture = V&H FP (developed on a Dyno with the same components you have installed).
Doesn't the HD Stage 1 download do exactly the same thing? Surely you would do one or the other?

NO - you will have to set-up your setting based on what you have installed on your bike... Having a STAGE1 download from the dealer would just be throwing $$$ away...

FP easy install & set-up and have worked GREAT 4 me!!

Stage 1 download probably will require you to remap the fuel pak and if you check out the fuel pak maps on their website, theydon't have one (at least they didn't a few mnnths ago) for 07 bikes (not sure your year?)with the stage 1 download. I bought a fuel pak several montns ago and sent it back just for that very reason (called them and they said theydidn't have a map for it but they might have one that would be close).

No need for the download...bike runs great with the V&H settings.

Increasing the rev limiter offers little in itself (okay...greater wear & tear) for drivability. If you set it up as is, then do the download, you *will* need to get new settings for your FP from V&H.

It ain't broke at that point, so why "fix" it...leave it alone and ride it.

From what I have always heard if you have already done a Stage I, pipes, a/c and FM, then the download is pretty much a waste of money.

I have done exactly what you are considering: Had the FuelPak, took it off and did the download. Couldn't tell much difference between the two. Then I added the FuelPak on top of the download (different settings from the website) and could tell no difference at all. Now I've sold the FuelPak and am just running the download - very pleased. My opinion is that having both of them is a waste of money.
