Well I jsut got my new 08 Street glide (love it) and I tried to install my new seat that I ordered and guess what? Harley (no wonder they are rich) reversed the mounting of the seats on the new touring bikes! You know the tab on the bottom of the front of the seat that goes into the slot in the frame? Well now the slot is on the seat and tab is on the frame! I bought the kewl looking "Danny Gray seat made specially for Drag specialties" on EBAY from a place called American classic motors. In their add it says fits all 97 to pressent, well guess what they don't fit! And I am trying to correspond via email with the company to see if they will take their seat back but so far pulling horse teeth is easier! buyer beware if you plan to use these guy's.

 

sorry you got burned but it's been posted here when they first came out that it was one of the "minor" changes. Probably necessitated because they moved some of the electronics from the side to under the seat.

I haven't heard good things on the reeturn department with that company, but heck i wish u luck.

 

The seat on the '08 touring bikes looks much improved. Alot deeper for more back support. Checked with the parts dept., it won't fit my '06.

 

I have used these guys before and no complaints about them. One thing is for sure when you read the TO PRESENT part when a brand new model year just started I would tend to ask a few questions

 

That's right. I wouldn't assume present meant '08.

 

I've had no problem with American Motor Classics. Fast shipping and great prices. I had to e-mail them once and I ended up having to call them on the phone because they were slow in responding.Just give 'em a call and I hope everything works out.

 

They run so many ads that they probably haven't had a chance to change the ads that say "to present" to "to 07". And it has been stated in many threads on here that the seat is one thing that chnaged for 08. If you look at the HD site they have seats for 08 and ones for prior years. Hope ACM helps you out. I have never had problems with them, but many have. It is probably going to come down to "you should have asked before you ordered". If that is the result then try to sell it here in the classifieds or re-bay it. Hopefully you won't have to take a loss.
