Why Does My 2018 Ultra Ride So Rough?
#41
95% of the time it is the low profile tires on the 18/19" wheeled bikes that people are complaining about as they lost the sidewall "cushion", as well as the hard high mileage tires.
Your 07 has good sidewall and even handles better than anything newer as far as feeling natural and not pushing it thru the curves.
The other 5% may be experiencing menstrual cramps.....
Good to know the newer style ride better than the airshocks as easy to come by.

I have Ohlin's in the rear, Pro Action up front. Happy with both.

With the older forks you can greatly reduce the brake dive by increasing the oil height, thereby reducing the air volume. This air acts as a progressive spring. Reducing the volume greatly increases its spring rate. I increased the height about 1-1/2” myself.
I also ran a thicker fork oil. But don’t get greedy, it hydrolocks quickly with thicker oil. A generic 15 fork oil was harsh on rough roads, a 20 would lock over everything but gentle undulations.
