ABS or no ABS

RE: ABS or no ABS
If you have the extra cash for it I'd get it for sure. Much easier to maintain control if you have to get on the brakes hard or on wet/slippery roads. I am waiting extra time for my 08 SG to get ABS, dealer had a non absSG on the floor but I'm betting it will be worth the extra wait for ABS.

RE: ABS or no ABS
Now don't bash me, but I for one, never ride in the rain, never. If you want to call me a fair weather rider, go for it, I'll be the first to admit it. Lucky for me however, I live in California where weather doesn't come into play as much as some of you other guy's.
Now with that all said, would I buy a new Touring bike without the added 800 dollar expense for ABS. My answer would be yes. Other then in slick/rainy condition's, I don't see much use for it on a street bike. This is just my oppinion, right or wrong. But, for someone that spends alot of time on their scoot, and ride's in all condition's, I wouldn't consider purchasing a new touring bike without ABS, it then is a no-brainer ....Putt

RE: ABS or no ABS
I personally don´t like the idea of having anabs on my bike(I also prefer skills and cautious riding), especially first year version.. Of course there´s warranty for all the coming issues/problems,but I´ll bet it´s going to be a pita for someone who owns that 08 after say like 5-10yrs from now.And especially if thoseabs brake partsare not interchangeable with non-abs parts. Here in Finland all the 08 tourers are w/abs, I think it´s because we have a limited amount of new HD´s available for sale from the factory(you guys are buying too many new HD´s over there!)so the importer had to decide whether to take all tourers w/abs or not.So I think they decided that because some of european/jap bikes had already abs they should also sell HD tourers with it.Of course I´m lucky enough NOT having that +$40K that a new SG here costs so I don´t have to worry about those brakes...
