I've been reading everything and anything pertaining to oil temp on many forums. If I understand this right? Air baffle -30 deg, Mobil1 -15 deg, finned thingy on the oil filter -10 deg, oil cooler -15 deg ... Looks like negitive 70 degrees from 225deg operating temp. I will install all that stuff on my bike and start a thread.. "Engine running too cold" [sm=noooo.gif]

On a side note, it is funny how people seem to have temp problems that are all over the map. I hadn't check my oil temp in years, but did Saturday.

It was 95* outside. I rode 20 miles of two lane at 55 or so, followed with 30 miles of interstate at 65/75. I got off the interstate and came thru town, thru a few lights, and pulled in the drive. I left the bike idling in the driveway so she wouldn't cool. It took me a couple of minutes to get to it. I grabbed a meat therometer out of my tool box and checked it's temp against the thermometer hanging in my garage. I shut the bike off, pulled out the dipstick, threw the meat thermometer in and then leaned the bike to the right to get the oil as high up on the prong as I could..........It was right about 200 degrees. That is about where she always runs. The highest I have ever seen it has been 210 to 215........FYI, I just run dino oil, also.
You are very fortunate, I have added: PCIII, air filter, true-duals, SYN to my 07 UC and today on a 24 mile trip with a few slow downs. My thighs were on fire, when I arrived home, I depressed the temp gauge and the LCDREAD 265. The outside temp was 85.

I put the baffel on my RG a few months ago. The '06 had a stock black one and I wanted the chrome one when I saw it in the catalog. The local dealer didn't have one, but I found one at the dealer up in Palmdale Ca.

I plan on getting one not for cooling, but everyone says it helps with the turbulance around my goatee & face.
I have one on my '96 RK -- No idea if it's stock or not. But if it helps, I noticed that the RK is *freakishly* more aerodynamic against the chest/face than my '05 Sabre.

If that's what's making the difference, it's the best upside-down ashtray-looking thing in the universe. The difference is huge between the bike... 60-70 MPH on the Sabre, when you turn your head to check before changing lanes, you're neck is suddenly SMACKED to the side in a not-so-nice manner. Side-effect: When your helmet shield gets covered with rain, a turn of just a degree or two to either side immediately clears the shield. Haven't noticed that on the RK though...

In any case, the RK is shockingly easy at highway speeds... I wasn't expecting that at first. If that lil' chunk of metal is responsible, it's brilliant.

If you decide to install either baffle, make certatin that use use a "bottom tap" to clean the paint out of the mounting holes
