I would suggest stainless steel screws instead of the rivets with lock nuts

when i had to replace the latches on my tourpac i had the dealer do it. it only takes a few minutes to do. buying the tool isn't worth it. thats the only thing i have had the dealer do in almost 20 years to my bike.

Dealer should be able to do it in 1/2 an hour.

I've got a friend who has the required rivet pliers. We've replaced my hinges twice. Took all of 10 minutes each time. Cost me a couple of beers to borrow his pliers. I wouldn't have used those rivets if he had not had the pliers. Either let the dealer do it for you or replace the rivets with some bolts like previously suggested. Definitely not worth buying the tool for this alone.

Try "Harbor Fright Tool" A rivet puller will cost about $30.00 if that. The trick is find someone that knows how to use them.
