I have the same problem. I ride when I can so it happens.
I was going to say, don't ride in the mid day, but you can-
put wax polish on while you're riding and rub it off when you get home, or
Take a piece of thin cloth and tuck it under the hinged lid while it covers the lid.
get some small rare earth magnets and sew, or have sewn, into the corners of a bandana and stick that on when you get the shine, and if you want double-duty, make the magnets removable so you can stick them to your oil filter to retain any ferous metal particles that may be floating in your oil.
Get a monkey to ride with his but there...or hire a small illegal alien to ride on the front of the seat to block the sun for you. You can find on at any home depot...[:@]
Get a cover with the 'ride to live, live to ride' eagle, or whatever,on it so that there isn't any shiny spot on the cover to reflect sun off of.
Only ride mid day rides after a hard night of partying, so you can puke on the chrome when it starts shining to bright, I've heard this works really well for a minute or two[sm=lildevil.gif]

The reflection off the cover drives me nuts at midday..any suggestions?
I used it as an excuse to put the HD Live to Ride cover on it...that way it looks cool and it breaks up that reflection...now I get a combined reflection of chrome and gold...

Well I guess nobody has had this problem but me...Must be my hieght or the way I sit when I ride..I consider it a safety issue..oh well thanks for all the responces...
Trust me, every man woman and child that has ever ridden a Harley has had this problem. Its what happens when we want nice shiny chrome bikes yet have a sun that is so rude as to move around on us through out the day. There is only one real way to fix it, take off, or cover the chrome.

I jsut squint and dont look down

Get the cover black chromed. The reflection is still there but much less of a pain in the eyes.

What about that clear vinyl paint protector stuff? H-D makes it cut to fit saddlebag lids and rear fenders to protect from scuffs.

I would think that would cut the reflection enough to satisfy, while still keeping the chrome appearance.

My $0.02.

Move up north. The sun never shines there.
