I have a pair of Polarized sun glasses ... They work so well that the liquid quartz screen on my HK radio turns black... I thought at first it went bad..
I haven't had any problems with the gas cap cover blinding me.
If you do go with the JB Weld ideal.. You should make some kind of cool design on the cover...

yep don't ride at midday. lol
but just goes to prove the engineers at HD really don't ride bikes.
Or the fools wouldn't design chromed crap and place it where the suns reflection would glare into your eyes.
Same goes with the red glare from radio at night off the windshield on the older road kings.

No, you are not alone!! Mine was driving me nuts too, I covered it with black pleather (an old fender cover). I cut it to fit and used glue (only on the inside) and duct tape (again only inside). Looks good and no more glare. I'll post a pic if you'd like.
