Default My gear indicator keep disappearing

Hi All
Recently I noticed my gear indicator keep dissipating sometimes. When it happen no cruise control is also available. Any chance this can be related to sticky neutral switch or I should expect something more serious. Today it happened for the first time and make me worry as not having gear indicator sucks but it is not the end of the world while not having cruise control would be no fun.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

They read gear based on rpm and speed so it’s computed. If the clutch is pulled in it is missing part of the equation that it needs.

What bike and year and how many miles on it? Might help those in the know.
If it's still under warranty call the dealer.
Can't say I've even heard of this issue but probably someone in here has, good luck.

Check your Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).

Number 14 in the diagram below. It might be dirty or the connection not tight.

Well a '22 should should still be under warranty,I would think it's probably a simple fix at a dealer.

Thank you guys and yes I rode this bike pretty hard in last few days as I am on the trip. Glad to see it is somehow easy fix in case this will keep happening. I will keep monitoring. Appreciate the advise. Looking into the diagram should I check tightness of screw #3? In case this thing is dirty how I can clean it up.

I feel this is rather not switch at the handlebar but I plan to lubricate it a bit after ai get home just in case.

Yes bike is still under warranty but local dealers sucks big time so if this is something I can correct I will rather do it myself rather than give it to these butchers as they cant ever fix anything correctly first time.

you're on a trip, so perfect time to stop at a different dealer and have them take a peek. who knows, they may have the part on hand and can fix it right away. i know if i were on a roadtrip, i would want to have functioning cruise control.
