Is $39K too much for a new 2022 with extras?

My father always had a policy of telling people ****...he never told anyone what he paid for something, what he sold it for or how much money he made. When I was like 13 or 14 he bought a truck with a plow and I asked him how much he told me "none of your business" and he was right. So that's my life lesson for you today lol...you could use the opportunity to screw with people and tell them you got it for 29k.
End of the day if you want it and it sounds like you do, just make the best deal you can, buy it and enjoy it.

Myself, with the contacts I have, I would buy the Base model, upgrade the suspension and other things myself, while having the tins done to my liking. Yes, it could be a month longer to ride it, but I would have saved 15% or more and hava the exact bike I want.
Someone I know had liver and kidney transplants, for 2 years on a good day he is able to look out the hospital window. Fairly sure they have little left and they may have sold their home. Would I have judged him for buying a $30k motorcycle 3 years ago - NO.

If you like it and can afford it who cares? Buy it... The truth is there's rarely a price on a bike that most of us here will go "good deal"... I know I overpaid for my Ultra and my wife's Trike but it's what we wanted and I suck at negotiating, such is life... But we both got what we wanted and in the end, we're very happy campers as a result. Life's too short to sweat the small stuff... Just my humble opinion.

"According to Bloomburg , earlier this week Harley announced it had a rough start to 2023 with a $52.6 million credit loss. For all you non-financial folks out there, this just means it was money the company couldn’t collect on. In this case these are likely Harley bike payments financed through the manufacturer. Now, if you’re not paying on a loan, the item, or in this case vehicle, is obviously repossessed. But if there are not enough repo individuals to physically collect that vehicle, then what do you do?

If you don't buy it someone else will. You can rationalize a purchase many different ways, talk yourself into it and out of it. While you do that, some happy sole will be cruising around turning heads on your bike while you think of what could have been. Make a good solid offer and go from there!

I need some informed opinions please. One of the somewhat local HD dealers has a new, 2022 Street Glide ST in black. However, they had a local painter paint it, so that now it's
a darker red on the top and black on the bottom. It also has a bronze stripe separating the two colors.(same color as the rims). It's very close to this paint scheme on the Street Glide pictured, but in red and black. They have also added new Reinhart slip on's, a Klock Werks windshield, the back rest hardware, but no back rest, and new 14 inch ape hangers, that are powder coated the same bronze color as the rims. Otherwise, it is the same as a regular ST. They want $39K for it which, to me, seems high for a 2022. That being said, it does have everything I would want except for the backrest, passenger pegs, and two up seat. Is 39K too much and if so, what would you think would be a fair price?

Just out of curiosity, what is a normal level of credit loss for the same period? Bad debt is part of loaning money. That number seems big to me, but there also needs to be something to compare it to, and $0 in losses is not the goal if you're trying to make money loaning money.
article is from 2016 so not exactly up to date but they do show a chart that shows a fairly steady rate of about 3 to 3.5% each year.
