SE slip ons or true duals

RE: SE slip ons or true duals
I've heard the same thing about the low end torqueusing true dualsand was told that as well by my service tech. I went with the SE slip ontouring mufflers and stock headers, SE air cleaner and SERT on my 2007 RK Custom. I'm very pleased with the sound, louder than stock but not too loud. The engine runs a lot smoother with no pinging issues and seems cooler at stops. I don't have a temp. gauge, so I'm not sure how much cooler the bike actually is. I didn't loose any fuel mileage with this setup and still maintain mid 40's mpg. Added 5 HP and about 5 lbs of torque over stock without breaking the bank on paying for headers too.

The truth is that you will loose some low end torque. Actually I believe your max torque is re-located further up in the torque curve. But you know what.....I think you would have to have it on a dyno to be able to tell the difference. I am perfectly happy with my true duals.

RE: SE slip ons or true duals
The rear "H" pipe equalizes the exhaust and helps scavenge the exhaust gasses. This is anti-reversion, reversion happens easier in true duals and staright pipes. That's why people have to get power cones or install a baffle. Think of it as being similar to a 2 into 1 exhaust. You actually develop more HP and Torq. Cam profiles determine the powerband, the factory has this in the 2500 - 3000 range and then tends to level off.

Unless you're drag racing its a negligible difference, 2-3'# low end lossw/ 4-5hp top end gain. You'll get that "Harley" sound w/true duals, though some argue that if you do that, you then need some sort of fuel management.
I'm $pent right now so I'm probably justgonna send my stockers to Fullsac to get a little more volume.

I havethe Fulsak true-duals and SE slip on mufflers, PCIII, K&N, bike has lots of low end torque. If it is set up right you shouldn't loose hardly any low end, you will loose some, but the better mid range and full throttle is well worth it, especially on a hot day.
