Default Air shocks

Couple month old RKC. 4000 mi. Yesterday attempted to check air in rear shocks.Neither a pencil guage nor a bicycilepump guage would give me a reading. Is a special guage needed for these shocks. I am hesitant to go $40 to harley for the guage and pump; ride solo and want to keep 15 lbs as recomended. Thanks.

You can't check the pressure with a regular gauge due to the low volume of air the shocks hold. IMO, the Progressive shock pump is worth the 40 bucks.

Or you can take the valve out of the mount - then you can check it.... But the Harley\Progress Pump is the only way to go!

I tried to check the shocks on my SG with several different gauges. All of them said zero. So I went and bought the Harley pump/gauge and it said zero as well. I guess the dealer forgot to check them before delivery. Set them at 10 pounds and they have been fine since then. My other gauges still don't show the right pressure. The HD pump/gauge was worth the money.

I totally agree with the above posts. The money you spend for the Harley pump and gauge will be one of the best investments you will ever make, if you have a bike with air shocks.

Bought it. Shocks were empty. Easily pumped them up with the Harley pump. Thanks.
