A frame mounted batwing would be a winner in my books. JMHO.

I rode both before I bought. I’m 5’9. On the RG I felt I was on the bike while riding. On the SG I felt I was in the bike while riding. I went with SG. That’s my .02 cents.

This leads me to an interesting thought: We've recently seen a lot of interest in threads or stories describing how to make a Street Glide into a Road Glide. Conversely....how much past or recent discussion has there been about taking a RG and converting it to SG/batwing?

with owning both a SG and RGS currently, its a toss up for me. I love them both ! When i got my new RGS i didn't like the screen so far away at first but as someone above mentioned you really don't need to touch the screen, the hand controls do everything so i got used to that pretty quickly and easier to look straight onto instead of dropping your eyes slightly to look at the closer to you SG fairing. I have short and long distanced both bikes and find the wind and handling do have minor differences but nothing that makes one better than the other. I do find the fairing on the RGS that hang outs out over the front wheel so far is a bit heavy when moving the bike around by your foot power, you have to be a more conscious of that weight when turning, but nothing huge.
think its just try them both for yourself and see what you prefer, but i do recommend a decent run on the bike not just around the block.

this.

will the RG handle better at some stupid speed in cross-winds? maybe, but I don't care
batwings all day for me.

SG/batwing bikes feel claustrophobic to me, when compared to the RG/fixed fairing bikes. Maybe because I'm 6'4"/230?

I'm 5'9" and on a batwing I'm afraid I'm going to leave noseprints on the gauges. I love the sense of room on a Road Glide.

I've owned them both, loved 'em both, but the RG is my fav. It's all about personal style and taste IMO.
