I have a 2003 Road King Classic EFI
My fuel sender unit is dead and unfortunately it is absolete.
Has anyone tried isntalling a universal unit like the one in the photo?
Theoretically it should just be a matter of drilling a hole in the gauge seat and installing it in there.
I thought HD blocked online sales from places like Surdyke and Ronnie's? I know when I've tried in the recent past they say something about only being able to sell their stuff to their local market now. I could be wrong tho.......
Maybe the OP can try to purchase one from those guys and get back to us?

They did.... I have (had) an account with Surdyke.... bought many parts from them since 2015....
On my first order after 12/1/22, when I tried to check out, I got this message... "We are so sorry, due to Harley-Davidson corporate policy we can no longer sell or ship Genuine Harley-Davidson Parts and Accessories to customers outside our approved dealer territory. Please remove those parts from your cart to check out."
And next to the item where the price used to show, it says "This item can only be sold to customers in our dealer territory."
At the time, I had an item back ordered with them, that I ordered around 10/2022. They still fulfilled that backorder, but wouldn't let me order anything else...
FWIW....
I just now was able to log into my account, and see all my past orders. I tried to order a fuel level sender just to see what would happen, and I got the same messages I posted above.....
