That puller/installer is for timken bearings. HD stopped using them for wheel bearings in 2000 model year big twins.

George's was the one I bought also, and it worked perfectly.

I was thinking about the George's Garage tools, I have order a few things from him. But you do seem to more stuff on Amazon these days. yes, I am sure it is cheaper quality, to go with price. For some engine stuff, where I will use it once or twice, I have gone cheaper.

Thumbs up

I got this one off "FleaBay" last June. Inexpensive and worked like a charm. I had also used a couple thrust bearings, made it a wee bit easier to twist in and out. They aren't necessary just my little experiment.
Around that time period I has also bought the inner cam bearing puller/pusher, cam plate bearing press plate set and runout plate and gauge. So far I have found all the ebay tools to work well and saved me $$$$$.
Maybe if I did that type of work daily, had a shop etc. I might spend more but for me, no more than I will use them " Jack-pot" good luck
Here is the one I got.

What method or tool does everyone use to get the bearing race out if the bearing has been destroyed?

Assuming the opposite side bearing was removed, I would remove the spacer (tube) and then locate a suitable diameter piece of pipe which matched the spacer or bearing diameter. Schedule 40 plastic ideally. Use a deadblow or plastic body hammer to hit the pipe and drive out the damaged race.

If the opposite bearing was still in place I'd give consideration to whether or not I should try removing it myself, vs taking to a shop for removal...and then work on the damaged bearing race after.

All in theory, as I have not encountered this situation.

If the bearing is just bad, you use the puller. If the cage has disintegrated. you can try to space the ***** and use the puller.

On late wheels if only the outer race is left, you can't drive it out unless you MIG weld in a washer then tap it out from the other side. After welding it may simply fall out..
