Default Harmon/Kardon MP3 Question **UPDATED**

I am trying to play MP3s from a recordable CD. I have made 2 CDs and on both none of the songs play until around number 30. It will skip thru all the songs, sometimes briefly stopping and showing the title and then moving past. On both CDs I made, only about 15 out of the 60+ songs I recorded will play. The disks work great in the car and all the songs will play.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks!

Mine does that as well. There's a thread about this somewhere.

Burn at a slow speed and make sure you're burning them as a data disc.

I agree that burning at either 8x up to 24x will ensure a good burn. You also need to use good quality CD brands, like Maxell, TDK, etc. Some of those cheap bargain blank CDs don't work as well.

Wecroft, I'm not sure burning as a data disc would allow the HK radio to read the files correctly. I use the Roxio software to burn all my discs. And, if you specify the disc as MP3 music, it will encode the disc correctly. This encoding ensures that the disc can be played on any MP3 player and/or PC.

I'm using a Mac to burn the CD. I am using good CDs so I'll try a slower speed (8x).

Any other ideas?

I burn my MP3 cds at about 24X using Roxio Creator Classic. No issues or problems so far.

If you still have trouble after trying the strategies suggested, get a friend to burn you an MP3 on their PC using their software--if plays ok,you know it's a recording problem with your MAC setup.

The fact that the CD's play in your car reveals the possibility there's something awry with your HK player. Do they play in your computer and in a typical home stereo CD player?

Try burning a CD on another computer, then if no change try another brand of CD-R. I'm using Verbatim (available at Sam's Club) and burned some for a friend with some cheap CD's he provided, burning at 48x in each case, and have had no trouble with six or eight burned so far. Also, try running a cleaning CD through the HK to make sure you don't have dust on the laser lens.

Music is considered data. I am also using Roxio Creator Classic with no problems. the only problem I have ever had was using the black disc's. Some work some don't. As long as I don't use the black one's I have no problems. Yes the black one's that will not work on my harley works okay with the car and pc
