Default Picture Request. Chrome primary cover

So, our local dealer is offering a 15% off day for members of the HOG club they sponsor. I'm planning on using the event to pick up various bits of chrome 'jewellery' for my RK. I'm wondering if anyone has the chrome primary cover shown in the link below.. And if so do you have some pix from different angles? Was it easy to install?

Thanks in advance......

I have always removed the inner primary and sent it out for plating. Much better looking piece than just some cheesy cover.

Darn... Just realized that I changed the primary oil before I put the bike away last month.. I still have enough oil to do another refill. Thanks for the tip.

Removing the inner cover does sound like a better idea. There will be a space between actual the inner cover and the optional bolt-on one. I was thinking that road grunge and stuff could start getting trapped there.

Very interesting suggestion... But.. I'm not one for hard work Removing the inner cover is quite a bit more difficult. Plus the bike is still too new for me. I'm not eager to tear into it to that extent. If some day I were replacing something like a clutch, then I'd go the extra mile and pull the inner cover and send it in to be plated.

On top of that, the cover is painted with that rough black engine paint. Would take a lot of prep and polishing to get it chromed.

Looks like a smart piece to me. Installation is easy, click on “details” and there is the instructions.

The link is not showing a part. To me anyway.

This part? If you are 2-3 feet off the ground this is what you see. If you are standing looking at the bike you can’t see that it’s a cover. I sold this bike earlier this year.

Does anyone sell an inner primary already chromed ? In the 70's we used to drive 120 miles to a chrome exchange place to get our parts plated. I think I have seen a chrome exchange on E-bay for lower legs for the newer bikes that seemed to be a lot cheaper than buying new and the finish may be nicer.

Removing the inner primary is a lot easier that I thought it would be. Of course my bike is 03. I’m not a fan of covers. I would leave it black or buy a chrome one.

HD sells a new chrome inner primary. As i said before, chrome the one that came on the bike is going to be the cheapest way to go.
