RE: Lowering An Ultra
HARLEY HAS FRONT AND REAR LOW PROFILE TOURING SHOCKS JUST FOR THIS PURPOSE. BE SURE TO CHECK YEAR OF BIKE AS SOME ARE DIFFERENT. BUT THEY HAVE ONE FOR ALL RECENT MODELS.

RE: Lowering An Ultra
I boughta pair of12" rear shocks from my dealer AMCHD and installed them myself. Took about30 minutes (I'm slow)... I also purchased the low profile front springs and valves from AMC. I hadAMC install them. Labor was $215 for the front install. With my 10% discount the front springs were about $70 bucks. The rear shocks were about $280 ... when we bought the bike I asked for a discount on the rear shocks, I got them for $130... I have done some hard cornering two-up and haven't scrapped anything. The ride is fair .... tell your friend the boot trick works well. Get aggressive soles and 2" heels ...

I'm going to try lowering the rear only first and see how it affects handling.
I wish the '08 service manuals were out so I knew torque values, etc.
The dealer quoted 4 hours to install the front kit so if I have to lower the front as well, I'll probably tackle it myself and save $280.If I do the front I'll also install the chrome kit at the same time.

I bought the Burley 1" kit from JP. Easy install at home with a jack. I'm 5'7' and recently lost 41lbs. going thru radiation and chemo. Worked great for me. Set my feet flat on the ground at a stop. When I finished my cancer treatments I was weak as a kitten and this really helped with the intimidating weight/lean factor.
