Thanks all.
I decided to simply take my chances and pull out the nail. Turns out, this nail was only about 3/8 inch long, and was stuck in the thickest part of a brand new tire with only 800 miles on it.
I sprayed some soap on it, and it appears to not have any air leak.
I think it's OK.
