Thanks all.
I decided to simply take my chances and pull out the nail. Turns out, this nail was only about 3/8 inch long, and was stuck in the thickest part of a brand new tire with only 800 miles on it.
I sprayed some soap on it, and it appears to not have any air leak.
I think it's OK.

And by the way, I have an 250/40/18 rear on my custom that is a spoked wheel and is tubeless. I have a plug and patch on it for now but have a new tire on order.
[sm=badidea.gif]If you must know, I was drilling a whole in the fender to mount the tail light with the wheel and tire on the bike.
In my defense, I did have a piece of metal plate between the fender and the tire. Went right through the 3/16 inch plate..
