just got back from the test ride after installing my IDS. Freakin WOW!!!!!!!!!, 2000 rpm in 6th gear, quiet and smooth as a baby's butt. Took my about 1 hour 15 min to put it on, it was a piece of cake. And for what it is worth the new red sears jack works fine for me

Thanks everyone for responding to this thread. I've got the chattering 5th, so back to the dealer for another HOG-discounted part.

Holy jeez!! If I had wanted a quiet smooth ride I'd have bought a Goldwing!! My Harley sounds and rides quite well as is. Think I'll leave this unholy ride refinement off of mine.

I had the dealer install mine yesterday. I thought it made a big improvement and really eliminated a lot of clatter. I am looking forward to a long trip next week and wanted to get this done before I left so that the clatter wouldn't drive me any crazier than I am already. The dealer charged me full price for the part but no labor. I still feel like Harley should have done this as a warranty item but I am glad that I had it installed. This is a very worthwhile improvement.

IDS installed, no clatter, no problems. I can run any gear down below 2000 rpms and no noise! Thanks IDS you are my hero! The moco would be my hero if they ever owned up to this crap and paid me my 223 bucks back.

I went by the dealer closest to the house - not whereI bought my RG - yesterday to see how much they would charge. 2 alert employees standing behind the counter neither had any idea what I was talking about. Took 15 minutes to find the part, 20 minutes to print the installation instructions and discuss with the tech behind closed doors - verdict full price on part($300+) plus 1 1/2 hours labor at $80 hour
