Default 07 electra glide ultra classic rear shocks hard

New to me 07 ultra classic rear suspension is like riding a hardtail. It rides worse the. My 96 heritage that is lowered front and rear. I thought getting g this bike it would be soft as he'll on the ride. You can't get the rear suspension to budge when bouncing on it. Just doesn't see right any I ideas? It has showa 54563-97c shocks

If those are the original air shocks......change them.......they SUCK!!

Sounds like they're all locked up.
OR full of air, try taking some air out.
They use very little pressure......DONT use compressor to fill them........use a bicycle pump or the pump that usually comes with it

When I first checked them they had no air in them. I put some air items and they held overnight fut I didn't go for a ride yet, but it still feels stiff

You can try changing the oil in them. If that works, it would be the easiest and cheapest fix. The set I had on my '08 where sticking. I changed the oil in them but that did not help. I ended up putting a set from a '17 (not air) on mine that a buddy had.. I had never had a issue with a stock setup before this.
check YouTube for how to videos about the oil change.

Hope you are using the hand pump and not a compressor.

I did use a compressor but I dialed it down to 20psi.
But the problem was before I filled them they had no pressure in them.

Best to start looking some shocks… will be an investment if you’re gonna ride and keep 5he bike. Get rid of those air shocks

I have a 06 Ultra. I'm going to assume those Showa's are replacement for stock? Or does Showa make the shocks for Harley?

My owners manual shows ~10 psi for solo riding and up to 25+ for 2 peeps and/or towing a trailer. I've also been very happy with the ride. So I can't explain your poor ride.
