Awesome! I have one in the thread of this area, as well. Absolutely love that area, and stay in Stanley a couple times each season

The first picture looks like it's on Hwy 242 near the Dee Wright Observatory at the lava beds. That's a nice ride on 126 from Eugene to McKenzie River to Sisters, and Bend on 20.

I took this one last year at the lava beds you are talking about. It was right at the start of that 115* weather in June...

Hi all,
I did end up in Sister's for the evening. I came in the back way apparently. The road was quite windy and barely wide enough for 2 vehicles.....glad it brought back some memories.....goldie
Edit:
I just looked at the map and it was indeed hwy 242....

Yeah, 242 is a two lane road with lots of turns and grade changes. But there isn't much traffic on that route, which is nice. There are several parts where the trees cover the road so that you cant see the sky. In August there are usually Rhododendrons in bloom, but if it was 115 when you went though there, the blooms were likely gone. But a very nice ride indeed!

Lots of food and beer in Bend. And I like to stop at Drake Park there too, it's very relaxing. Wish it were closer.

Doing some leaf peeping before peak color is gone.
