Borescopes come in handy to check for major damage or heavy carbon build ups inside the cylinders
if you are having a problem. Otherwise, it's just curiosity to see what it looks like in there. Just don't try
to conclude stuff until you know what is normal and what is not. I've seen guys go out and buy all kinds
of expensive additives to remove some normal deposits that the engine itself will remove.

 

Lets hope it is his engine.

 

If not, I'd say he has to much iron in his diet...

 

mostly what I was looking for was wet/excessive carbon buildup on the pistons and gouges on the cylinder walls. Thankfully it looks pretty clean. even the valves look decent. Apparently top tier gas works as advertised.

 

Top tier gas! HAHA. I know for a fact in Seattle that Chevron, Shell and unbranded (MOM and POP stores). All get pulled from the same rack down on the waterfront. The only Difference is the gallon or two of soap that the TOP TIER guys add to their product.

 

Yeah its the cleaner additives that differentiate the brands. And apparently they work.

 

I would put my money on a good lean tune. That will do more than a gallon of soap in 2000 gallons of gas.

 

crackin me up. yeah that $2 extra per tank is too much lol. The pictures tell me it's $2 well spent.

 

Back up here, I never said anything about cost. I was stating a fact that top tier and mom an pop gas all comes from the same rack. The soaps does work in the fuel injection system but reducing carbon that would be the tune.

 

You said you'd rather put your money in a tune. So yes you talked about cost. I already know it all comes from the same rack so you didn't reveal any new information. The "soap" as you call it absolutely keeps your engine cleaner as evidenced in my pictures. Look at that valve in the next to the last picture I was very pleased.
