Default '05 Electraglide Standard

I'm thinking about trading my '00 Softail Heritage Classic for the EG Standard. I love the way it looks especially with the aftermarket shorty windshield. Any reasons why I shouldn't?

Any and all comments appreciated.

You will not regret it one bit! IMO, it's the best deal HD has going!

I was going to get the Standard but opted for the Classic. Reason being the price to outfit the Standard with a radio, engine chrome, and a tourpak exceeds the MSRP of a Classic. Just a thought if you plan to add these items down the road. Good luck and safe riding.......................

I have the Standard and love it. Matter of choice, if you think you will want the tour pack, get the classic, the engine is chromed out already, and looks better than the one on my standard, IMHO.

Thanks for all the advice... I mostly ride one up with the wife joining on occasion... Not trying to offend anyone but I don't think I'm old enough yet to get the classic or the ultra, lol. All my bros at work are giving me a hard time about trading my scoot for an old man's bike...

Get the Classic, make the tour pac quick detach, slap on a shorty smoke windshield, laydown license plate, and a couple of other little changes, and you have the best of both worlds. A stripped down heavy cruiser so you friends don't think you're an old fart, and in 5 minutes, a cadallic, ready for comfortable and roomy touring.

Just a thought.

Regards,

Bill

I'm tellin' ya...I would have done this had my dealer explained to me that I could quick detach the tour pack...he indicated I couldn't. So, now I'm adding expense to do that...I'm not unhappy, I just didn't make a fully informed decision a the time based on what I was told. SOOO, it comes down to what you want.

In the end, it will be about the same for me, as you can get things very cheap by shopping eBay, but I won't have the chrome engine.

Personal choice...

I'm on my 3rd Standard, it's the best deal Harley has I think. I put on a detachable low profile rear box and good to go. I would like a stereo but the price HD wants is ridiculous, I may put one in the tour pak, just a CD player.

And the Standard handles nicer than a softail..

Mac,

Don't concern yourself with that engine and trans not being Chrome and Black. The brushed silver looks good, and reminds me of the SE Edition bikes. As far as I'm concerned, the Standard is about the best value Harley has out there. You get one hell of a motorcycle for the money. I had considered going that way, but wanted the Peace Officer's Special Edition, and it was not available in the Standard.

Regards,

Bill
