does the synthetic effect oil presure? I changed from hd 20/50 to Amsoil 20/50 and my oil presure seems to be a little less. is that normal with synthetic

I believe you are correct that HD ships them from the factory with synthetic. I know that was what was recommended by the dealer when I took my 06 Road King in for the 1K service and I have used synthetic in all 3 holes ever since without any problems. I currently have about 15,500 miles on it and the level never drops between the 5K service. If anything I think that it would help prevent glazing on the cylinder walls during break-in.
Actually it is more likely to glaze the bores with the synthetic, that is why most of the reputable synth. oil manufacturers have a note on their labels recommending not to use synth.oil too early in the engines life, anyone that has taken the barrels off a Harley that has been run exclusively on Synth oil will know that it is not unusual to find that the barrels are like glass in the bores.Have been in the Automotive game for 32 years and I know that I always give my engines at least 5,000km (3k miles before I change to full synth)
and I love my Redline oileven though I will use Belray in my RK when I have enough miles on it,as I can't get the Redline V Twin oil here in Australia, only the normal Redline. That was fine in the old EVO but this thing runs a lot hotter and spins a lot faster,so I want to use a specialised air cooled motorcycle oil.And the Belray is my next choice

My dealer suggested and encouraged switching at my 1000 mile service. I could not be happier.

I don't recall which test, but I saw a reference to HD360 having a higher cold visocity than other oils tested. That's not to say that it withstands the rigors of use better than other oils, but begins life rather thick, and that may be what you're seeing in those pressure differences. I wouldn't worry about it.

HOLY CRAP! My eyes are burning and my brain is cooked after reading all this info about the synthetic debate. All i want to know is if anyone is happy with the syn3 the dealer uses. I do not have the time to put into ordering oil or shopping for oil. I want to do the lazy thing and let the dealer put that syn3 in at my 1k service and be done with it until 5k. Is anyone out there doing the same thing and happy about it? Thats what i want to know and read about. Please post a response. Thanks

Me too. Bottom line, is the H-D Syn 3 going to be alright for all 3 holes and provide the necessary protection for many years of trouble free service from these machines?
