RE: really pissed at the MOCO
I've got my 2007 "Touring Models" owner's manual right here in front of me. On the second inner-leaf page, where there are places to fill in personal and dealer information, right at the bottom of the page it says (quote):
"Harley-Davidson reserves the right to change specifications, equipment or designs at any time without notice and without incurring obligation."
I'm no lawyer, and I don't recall having to sign acknowledgment of such a statement at time of purchase, but that sure sounds pretty ***-covering to me. I don't fault them for it one iota.
I'm just glad they made the Road King Classic in a color combo I liked for the model year 2007. Except for thumbing my nose at the EPA, there's not one change or addition I wish to make to the bike. Okay, maybe one. I might, some day, trim an inch off the top of the windshield. Maybe. If I feel like it at the time, I may pick up an IDS kit when the rear tire needs to be replaced; just because I think it's a good idea.

Maybe and maybe not, I doubt it. I think more was done to the '08's other then just the IDS but the MOCO ain't saying nothing. Also why should '07 owners have to pay for the parts to fix the MOCO's mistakes? Maybe I'm just STOOPID to think that.

RE: really pissed at the MOCO
I have to laugh. Because at one point I was about to post something about all the whining, and b!tching going on in these forums myself..
With any new model, product, series, there is always someone that is either nothappy, or is very happy with what they have purchased.
I myself, I am happy, and a proud owner of my Ultra Classic '07.
I went four years without riding. It d@mn near broke my spirit. Have you ever heard of a Harley rider walking in and going postal. There is nothing like taking a one or two hour ride. Best stress reliever there ever was.
Ive rode dirt bikes since I was 11yrs old. And graduated up in size of bikes when I got older. Im now 43yrs of age, and smilen every day im riding.
I seriously remember when my father would come home with his H-D, and I was a kid. The next day, you would find a puddle of oil under the sporster. He would laugh, and say, hey it comes with the territory of being a Harley owner. Then came AMF days. How many Harley riders stuck it through on those pieces of cr@p? Some loved them, some didnt. They took the good with the bad.
How many Harley owners remember pre-EVO bikes???
Need I say more....Remember many complaints on these bikes.
My point is this. Someone, no matter what, is going to have some type of problem with something. Its bound to happen.
Heat from the bike --> I can live with it. Try sitting in traffic with a Wing, and the radiator cooling fan kicks on. Guess where that heat is being blown at. Remember many days getting cooked.
Whine from 5th gear--->Hardly noticable, yeah its there, but nothing for me to whine about. Trying dealing with a chirping sound from a yamaha virago v-twin.
Engine Noise ---> Ive wondered about this. I only remember having a pinging sound one time, and only once. Bike was extremely hot, and I believe it was bad gas in the tank. After emptying the tank, and putting a fresh tank of 93 octane in the bike, Pinging noise all gone.
Radio problems---> yeah, ive got some. Dealer is fixing the problem. Its under warranty. NO CHARGE---NO HASSLES. It will be fixed in about 2 to 3 weeks.
Dealership Issues ---> None with the dealership I patronize. They have treated me and my wife like we have a golden key to the place.
Old saying is, treat others as you wish to be treated.
Just my 2cents worth.
