Default Saddlebag latch swap

Any references for good replacement saddlebag latches that are gloss black for my FLHXS? They are the next bits I want to change. Reviews on the HD ones suck claiming you have to tap them, etc. Seen some listed on Amazon, but I'm afraid those are probably "steel coated" plastic.

Maybe year model makes a difference. Mine's a 2012. Think I just took the old ones off and put the black ones on.
I know I didn't have to tap anything.

Kinda embarrassed to admit it, but I bought some "custom" latches for my FLHT from Amazon. Turned out to be good quality stuff, at least the ones I bought. MUCH heavier than stock, ball milled, chromed aluminum. Had to transfer everything from the old to the new, but it was pretty easy. They fit well, needed NO modifications, and they look good on the bike. I think I paid less than 30 bucks for the set. Well worth it to me.

When you say "the HD ones suck claiming you have to tap them", I take it you want the toilet handle latch? I've read hit-n-miss reviews on others as well, so might be a crap shoot. Some claim the screw is either too short or too long.

Hah, yes the toilet handle latches, I will now always think of them as that. I've bought some HogWorkz bits before, I see they will paint match the levers (they call them instead of latch), but delivery is way out into November. Good suggestion though.

Just bought the HD gloss black saddlebag levers a month or so ago and installed them. Super simple and zero mods needed.

Not to necro my own thread, but posting elsewhere made me realize I never followed up. I bought the HD ones, and they went right on without any issues. Probably best to ignore some reviews on the HD site I guess.
