Default spacer/rotor question

recently did a tire change on 14 SGS. bought the bike used about 4 yrs ago. have put about 10k miles on it. anyway when never paid attention before but when putting wheel back on there is very little clearance with the rotor bolts and the fork. 1/16 to maybe 1/8 inch id say. everything went back on fine and rides fine just wondering if thats normal...never paid attention before. i saw another thread from a couple yrs ago about the same issue but just thought id revisit and see what people thought.

in addition there was only a spacer on the right side. any other bike ive had had one on both but this is my first touring bike. anyway wondering if this was normal.

when in doubt, look at the parts microfiche online from someplace like Ronnies

Best suggestion I can make for you, Michael, is to get yourself a FACTORY manual for that bike. Not an aftermarket, like Haynes. Get the Harley manual. Expensive, but worth every penny for information like this. Since the wheel/rotor shouldn't have any side-to-side movement, even a sixteenth of an inch clearance is enough.

Are you running the stock Harley wheel? Also, if you look at the brake calipers, the rotor (s) should run pretty much be centered in the calipers. If they are not centered, then something is off. Having only one spacer, usually means you have a bike with ABS, as the left side is the pick-up/sensor.

There's only one spacer. The Wheel Speed Sensor is for the ABS and takes up the space and doubles as the spacer. The bearings next to those are in the hub of the wheel.
