They would still be a gap but it would be a little less. Also I didn't crank it down tight considering I might return them for a different size, if I cranked down on them they would have closed up just a little bit.
They will close up much tighter than pictured.

You may want to consider some file work, to radius the inside of the collars. That would let them fit better and reduce the damage they make to the crash bars.
