Default Considering Bassani stainless vs black 2 into 1

As the title suggests, I'm in the air between the black or stainless Bassani 2 into 1 exhaust. I'm open to any suggestions though, so have at it.

Currently the bike has a chrome engine and most everything else I have blacked out. I don't care for the black engine look and could unbolt everything else. The exhaust is the stock head pipe and TAB Performance 4" mufflers with Zombie baffles. It sounds nice, no complaints about them. Besides the blacking out of most unbolted parts, the wheels, bars and Trask clear derby will be going a metallic cherry red illusion powder coat. I'd post the pictures but currently, I'm still waiting for them myself.

My indie is extremely opinionated and says that 2 into 1 systems on baggers look stupid. I disagree, but he also says the Andrews cam is better than the Red Shift 468 cam, so I question his authority on the matter. I do not have the stretched bags, don't like them, no plans to ever get them. Stretched bags and single sided exhausts look silly to me.

Future plans do include a new license for my Power Vision from Fuel Moto and the Trask air cleaner and a cam, likely the Red Shift 468 if I don't find something better. I add all this to paint as broad of a picture as possible. Leads to better conversation. I have black pipes on the other bike and after years of use, they needed to be recoated and still rusted though. I'll be replacing them sooner than later I think. The stainless turns gold over time but should be more durable in the long run. I don't know, I've never had stainless. I kind of like the raw look though, it's neat.

Just curious about experiences with the pipes and possible things I may not have considered. This is after months of reading and searching. At this point I have a lot of facts but interested in opinions and a conversation. So, the question is, stainless or black?

Im guessing the stainless pipe does not have heat shields?

My previous '09 RG was as blacked out as I could get it. I had a Drago 2 pipe on it for 3-4 years. The pipe showed no flaws at all. It cleaned up relatively easy, however you dont want anything oily to get on it without cleaning it up before it gets hot.

The 1 side exit of the 2/1 pipe grew on me to the point I liked it a lot. If you dont like the look of it, get the dummy muffler.

Assuming the stainless is high quality, it should require less attention then the black pipe. Granted Im over the top about how my vehicles look and how clean they are. I understand that other people are not. Black looks great when clean and right. Look terrible when dirty and messed up.

With that said, If your not going for a "Performance Bagger" look, stick to the black

*No experience with the Bassani pipe. Some companies have had issues with their black pipes/mufflers. The Drago 2 was still perfect when I traded it in. I would research this and the warranty

Y'know what we need is pictures of a black SG, one with the black pipe on it and one with the stainless pipe on it. That would make it easier to give an opinion.

We also don't know which Bassani 2:1 you're considering.

Stainless all the way! My wife runs a Bassani 2-into-1 on her Dyna S. It turns a beautiful caramel color when it gets broken in.

I also have a stainless DanMoto 2-into-1 on a Sportster. Love that caramel color!

It's a black Street Glide... You've never seen one? But you're right about the model, I was considering the Road Rage III 2 into 1.

I love the color of the pipes with those wheels. That's about perfect!

He's right! It's subjective of course but I just don't like it. Looks like something is missing or fell off.

I've always ran 2-into-1 pipes... especially on my baggers for the added torque. Function over fashion for me but I actually like the looks better too.
