Why apes on sharks?
#222
So people post in a thread I started, and then I reply. This is strange to you? What strange to me is they can't read.
Why post in it, if it upsets you? If you notice, it went dormant only to resurected by people that can't believe its here.
Not sure what upsets people so much. That I started a thread with my opinion in?

So why do people like mini apes on FLTRs? Same frame as Electra Glides. Been looking at Road Glide Limiteds/Ultras, but want my hands down low behind the fairing. Could buy a special, and add a tourpak. But I don't want to screw around, and want the lights and speakers. Question
You don't see this as much with FLHs, but very common sharknose bikes. Opinion, although just anecdotal

People gave their opinion, and their opinion of your opinion... mostly you disagreed with them.
It would appear you just want to disagree, if it is not what you want to hear or if it is different than your hypothesis.... so why ask???
Did you not get to be in the debate club in Jr High?
these are all really rhetorical questions, and no response is needed, or even desired...
This thread reminds me of the famous quote (often wrongly to attributed to Mark Twain)...
“Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
But, threads like this do expose people's true nature.... so there's that.

One person said it may be easier to swap out bars on shark, another said it is not. But I think he wrote that only because I said it was. No one disagreed with the original poster.
Another poster agreed me that you do see more on sharks, slightly.
I think more people are doing it now, cause it is trend. Never disagreed with anyone it is not comfortable. Maybe shraks led it slightly cause they did't care about standand looks.
I am curious if fly by wire and prewired bars made the trend more popular, because easier to do.
And even though heated grips are not new, I think they may becoming more common. Not sure. Probably more common with people with apes.
I got my answer a long time ago. As I have always said, you get your answer in the first page or two. There is no difference in the way bats or sharks behave with apes. I am just answering question last few pages.
When I say apes, I mean all the taller bars. Stating this to make fact checkers happy. Ape is just shorter to type than listing all types.

Looking today, a lot of newer and younger guys on batwings had raised bars. I still says sharks were doing it first. So it may no longer be accurate more apes on sharks anymore. But I still think they were at the start of the trend.
So case closed.

There have been responses from guys on here that build bikes, race bikes, and have been in the game longer than youve been breathing. Most of your replies start with, "But..."
Asking for opinions is one thing. You argued with nearly every person that provided what you asked for. That's why you've been called a toll and why I come back to read the responses, wondering how you'll justify your position.

I asked, cause I believe and still do, you see more apes on sharks that bats. But I now believe there may be no reason for that. Which is what I suspect all along, cause the frame is the same.

I honestly wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but clearly you have a reading & comprehension issue yourself.
Why can you not accept that comfort (as I explained) is my primary reason. You just keep going back to "someone said it's easier"?? It is easier, but that's not the main reason.
I had a batwing first...put taller, wider bars with a flatter wrist angle on it for my comfort & handling. Got my shark a couple of years ago and bars on it for the same reason...plus the stock RGL bars are atrocious!
I'd like to see some real numbers/data to back up your claims. You do realize that the batwing bikes were considerably more popular forever. Up until the new re-style of the RG in 2015, I bet one would see 10 (or more) to 1 batwings than RG's. It's only in the last few years that RG's have become more popular and more are on the road. Heck, I myself would have never even remotely considered a RG pre-Rushmore. So now that there more RG's on the road, you seem to think they're the only ones with taller bars.
I'm out....

Ok, let me reword, people put apes on bats and sharks for the same reasons.
But my point was people do it for the same reasons. Frames are the same. So there is no advantage of putting apes on a shark, over a bat.
