Default 2008 EGS radio

do the standards come with a radio harness, and are the radio buttons a separte harness or is it one piece? i am going to fit an aftermarket radio in place and am thinking of hooking to the buttons.

To have handlebar controls of an aftermarket radio you will need an interface unit that connects between the HD Base Audio Harness (that is on your bike) and the aftermarket headunit. Biketronics and Hawg-wired offer these. Biketronics unit is $149.95; many forum members have them (myself included)and theywork well.

Try biketronics.com. They offer a Retro Radio kit that has everything you need; $499 list last timeI looked.
