RE: Changing the 06 Ultra windshield.
Make sure to go with 6" or higher. The SG's have a 4" and I'm changing mine out to a 6".
You can go with a DarkSmoke as you will be able to see over the shield not through it. I'm going with a shield J&P has Black Chrome 6" for something like $60 I think.

I have HD's 6" smoked on mine, and I like it. It will let you get a little more wind, and a few more bugs, but all in all it offers adaquate protection.
I have ridden with mine in rain, snow and strong winds without any problems. It, along with the fairing, actually seems to protect better than the standard windshield on my 95 Roadking.
Regards,
Bill

Ive found the Memphis Shades brand windsheild to be of very good quality and less expensive than what Harley offers. A brand to stay away from is Slip Streamer. I tried that from mail order and the fit was off and quality was poor.
I use a 9" sheild and it is low enough to give me the wind in my face but tall enough to duck behind if I wish.

If you are going to change the windshield why not just cut yours down its very easy. Take it off, put masking tape on double and on both sides, wide enough for a jiz saw and then use a fine point marker and draw your line, you will need someone to help. After the cut use sandpaper where you did the cut. Take the money you just saved and buy you and your helper a 6 pack then enjoy the windshield or the beer. But not until you do the cut.

RE: Changing the 06 Ultra windshield.
Cheyenne...I ordered a fastaire for EG Classic....Great product and very fast delivery. I ordered the 8 inch smoked. Rode in the rain a few weeks ago, worked great. Cost was $36 with shipping. Ordered
on a Wednesday, had by Friday. I think I'm ordering another just in case.

How is the quality compared to say the stock shield?
Thanks,
Cheyenne

RE: Changing the 06 Ultra windshield.
I'm adding a fairing to my RKC and I was able to choose which size windshield I could get. As per the manufacturer the 7" was about 1" shorter than where my stock RK windshield sits. In regards to the windshield height measurement, where is that measurement taken......from the top of the fairing to the highest point of the windshield?
Just curious since I will be ordering a lower, smoked windshield for the return of warmer weather riding.
Thanks,
Brian
