Default 1999 Road King updates, price?

so guy local to me has a this bike, 15k miles, 1999 updates listed below, I was hoping to get a 2009+ bike but I don’t think I have the cash to swing it, the bike describe below , that I copied and pasted, seems like some tasteful updates in a solid platform. He wants 7400 for it hoping to be able to bring him down to at least seven. Or should I wait around and try to possibly get a 2009+ road king for seven? I’ve heard so much about the frame updates, not so worried about the engine updates, but just the road manners. I can’t imagine a 15,000 mile 1999 road king would have poor road manners. Just different I guess than a 2009+. Anyway, thanks for all your help in my previous posts, hope to see you on the road!

any input?

I’ve been shopping hard for Road Kings recently and I don’t think there’s anyway you’ll find a 2009 + in this market for anywhere close to that. Even with *high* miles.

@prepper Prices are through the roof on any used bike right now. Only you and your budget can make that choice. If you aren’t particular about scoring a newer ride - at least entertain the idea and go look at it. It may be all you need and will satisfy only you. That’s why we have choices in what we ride.

Mine is a '99....there is nothing wrong with the "road manners". OEM air shocks has a slow leak, other than that the bike runs/rides perfect. $7k is not crazy with the mods you listed.

I probably wouldn't buy a knock-off 1999 Toad King.

Hold out for the real thing.

23 year old bike. Usually that's when wiring starts to become a nuisance. Plus those hockey puck brake calipers. I would hold out.

I agree with others if you can hold out for an '09 or newer. Bigger tank, 6-speeds, better frame, wider rear tires, better motor isolation, etc. can make a big difference in your riding enjoyment. And many parts and accessories are a bit easier to come by.

My bar hopper is a 99 RK not a bad bike. As someone said replace the air shocks.
