Default Oil light 2019 CVO Limited

23,000 outstanding miles with no issues. Then yesterday while traveling 80 West at 80 mph the red oil idiot light comes on. I wanted to faint. Oh noooooo.

I was in no position to pull over on this particular stretch of rt 80 but got off next exit after a scary 3 miles with this oil light on.

I shut down and there were no leaks....my oil was changed by me a little over 2000 miles ago. Oil was just where i keep it always which is slightly below the full hot mark.

No oil burnt smell. No clicking clank from an overheated engine cooling down.
No nothing.

I cranked her back up. Oil light went out. Ran it to my dealer about 15 miles away.
No light.
Ran fuel pack diagnostics and besides running Rich which I know about there was a blurb about what I think? Is the electrical connection to the oil pressure sending unit as well as low battery voltage. I installed a new battery in may and was very mindful of tightening the lug screws down.

Going to pull the seat and check them again. Volt Gauge voltage was over 14 volts when running. Ill let you know after i reset the oil pressure plug in and out and when i recheck the static battery voltage and charging voltages.

dealer going to check a few things like oil pressure and whatever else.
Anyone ever get a phantom oil light while cruising?

I try to oil my lights twice a tear whether they need it or not!

Sorry couldn't resist.

Yeah that will get your attention real fast in a bad way. Glad everything is okay.

Had it happen a couple of times with my 2017 FLHTCU, after startup and gong down the road. Stopped turned it off, checked oil, then restarted, no oil light. Sometimes I think the computer gets confused and/or the oil sending unit glitches.

Another thing to check is your main 40 amp fuse. My 2019 Trike was acting funny and the Boom screen was glitching. I was going to do some maintenance and pulled the 40 Amp fuse and it was melted a bit on one side. Guess it was not making good contact and the resistance melted the plastic.

Cleaned up the female contacts and squeezed them together a bit and put in a new fuse. Been checking it weekly to see if it has any more issues.

After running it almost 400 more miles with no oil light coming on I left the bike off the trickle charger for a week. My static voltage read was 12.89 volts.

My charging voltage is 14.7 volts.
I also pulled the oil pressure plug off and it was clean like new so i just popped it back on with a good push but it was on (clicked on) good to start with.

I took a socket to the battery lugs and before doing that I tried to move the cables with my hands by pushing them around. They didn't budge.

I "then" took a socket w 3/8ths drive and gave them a little snug. They both took and moved maybe an extra 1/4 turn or for better understanding looking down at the top of tge battery lugs as if it was a clock. It may have tightened from the 12 noon origional spot to almost 1 oclock. Not much. But the socket did snug em up slightly.

Oil as I mentioned is good and was good at the time of the oil light at highway speeds incident. So basically i found nothing.

The dealer did put an aftermarket race oil pump on it early in the bikes life and he wants me to bring it in so he can check oil pressure to see if that's doing what it's designed to do pressure wise.

So basically with almost 24k on it an oil like came on for 3 of those 24k miles which seems like a unknown blip. Like many others have said, they shut down and restarted like me and the light went off and has not come back in the last 400 miles.

That's about all I can tell you. Thanks for the replies and if the oil pump psi is found to be off per the dealer ill share that. Otherwise this is just another mystery. Lol
