I always take the lowers off and also the wings on the side of the fairing, noticeable difference for me a lot more air flowing on these dog days of summer. I really don't miss the storage on the fairings myself, If I can't get it in the bags or tour pac I really don't need it

Mine come off as soon as it begins to turn warm sometime in the spring....and in the fall......they come back on.

I don't really miss the extra storage though......as they don't store all that much anyways.

so do i, i found a good product for more air there called freedom wings, they replace the little wings on the fairing, and you can ajust them so they force air to hit your chest, i really like them.

I have the same product, and Harley is now making their own version, which has several different locking positions. The freedom wingsscrews often loosen and the wind will move them, although I now used LocTite and that seems to help.

My lowers and wings usually come off around the first of May and go back on sometime in late October/early November.

For those of you that do take off the lowers seasonally, have you seen these new Motor Accessories?

Detachable Fairing Lower Hardware Kit (58146-07)

Beat the summer heat and prepare for around-town cruising by removing the fairing lowers on your Ultra Classic® Electra Glide®. This kit includes highly polished stainless steel clamps that are detachable without the need for tools.

Soft Storage Bag for Fairing Lowers (95983-07)

Protect your fairing lowers when they are removed for hot weather riding. This convenient storage bag features a heavyweight 10 oz. cotton exterior and sturdy carrying handle. Dual zippers open to expose a soft felt interior with a sturdy divider for left and right lowers, and two zippered pouches for loose hardware storage. A classic embroidered "Bar & Shield" logo adorns the bag's exterior.

I wasn't aware of that but, geez, there's 3 button heads up at the top of the fairing and a nut and bolt on a clamp on the bottom of the fairing - doesn't get much easier than that to remove.

And as for the storage bag - I have a customized storage box. I upgraded to the 4 interlocking flap for easy open/close.

Please don't misinterpret - I'm not attacking your post - it never ceases to amaze me the lengths HD will go to sell you something.

I couldn't get those three "button heads" loose. Is there a trick to it?
