Voltage Regulator
#21
How many miles since last time, and what brand of regulator? When buying one last time, I thought it was cycle elelectric, but it was to cheap and worded funny. Was some knock off. If you are getting AC output, and no dc increase in voltage it sure sounds like volt reg or broken wire. I think the maxi fuse must be good if bike is running?? Would have to look at prints.

I lucked out I got cycle electric from them when ordering drag. You can get cycle electric 150ish. Hate ida of chucking regulators at it. Bringing to a dealer can eat up 150 fast. I'd be tempted to put a ce in and see. If you don't have voltmeter on bike get one. I want to adds one to FLHR.

Hi guy's, just wanted to start off by saying thank you all for helping me out with my problem. So I ended up changing my stator, regulator and even my ignition switch, checked all the wires I could for any breaks or shorts and couldn't find anything. So the day came for me to test ride the bike, I went maybe 10 miles before the problem occurred again let's just say I was ready to give it all up. I didn't want to bring the bike to HD because they would probably charge me more than the bike is worth. Believe it or not I had a dream about what does this regulator do besides charge the battery? So I looked for the positive wire from the regulator going into the bike cut that wire and hooked up another wire going from the regulator straight to the battery and put in a 40 fuse between both. It's been a couple of days of riding and no more problems so far, battery is charging and everything else on the bike seems to be working fine. Thanks again. Ride safe
