Default 2019 Flhtk

My 2019 Flhtk hesitates when starting some times. I replaced the battery and still does it occasionally. My research is showing its a quirk with this engine and it happens when the engine is on the compression stroke when starring? Any info would be appreciated

I have the same bike no problem with my bike. I would re check all electrical wires, start with the battery at both ends.

Wouldn't turn it over fast enough to start it this morning.

Has it been tuned or does it have a tuner? Could be that the automatic compression release is turned off. That would certainly make for harder cranking.

So my research shows there are others with a similar issue. It's acts like it doesn't have enough power to turn the engine over but different than like a low battery. I'm hearing it's only when you try starting it with the bike in gear with clutch pulled in. If you start it in neutral with clutch pulled in it frees it up so it starts normally. No one on here has heard of this?

Based on the clutch engagement being the only differentiator, I would load test the battery.

But it's not like a low battery. A low battery will usually give up and you hear clicking

Not always, it could just have low cranking amps but not give up. I had a slow crank after 2nd year and replaced battery. No issue after. If battery passes, check compression release operation. Mike
