Over the years, I try to sweet talk the hotel people into letting me park by the front door under cover, or only rent Airbnb's with a useable garage/carport, and worse case scenario, I buy some plastic drop cloth from Walmart or something to get through and try to save it or throw it away till next rainy town. However, this trip, (50 days), I want to pack an honest-ta-God waterproof cover to have on the ready as needed. Issue is, space....... of course. The largest HD Tour Pack and both saddlebags are packed solid! Thought came to me that there is a little bit of unused room underneath the luggage rack that could take a small/compact/bagged cover. Just gotta strap it up to the bottom real good so as to not rub on the fender, and it will come off with the rack when I get to a place where I'm not going to need it for a few days. I've looked at quite a few covers already and had seen this one mentioned a few times. Has anybody here tried this cover before? And what are your thoughts? Also, any other suggestions of one that will fit UNDERNEATH the tour pack luggage rack are welcome. TYIA........

those guys stop the Asian tourists from sitting on their bikes, idiots from seeing what they have and keeping the seat and electronics dry. NOT idiots.

 

To each their own, I got sick of dealing with the full rain cover for the glide. Went with just the HD rain seat cover for 50 bucks years ago. It takes up very little room and does a great job of keeping seat dry. I'll use a towel to dry the grips if needed and then just hop on and go. As long as the seat is dry, I'm all good YMMV.

 

You want to cover the whole bike or just the bars, gauges and seat?

 

I use a half cover, works awesome, packs really small easy to put on stays put, my full cover would damn near take up the entire saddle bag, i think its a nelson rigg?

 

The cover that I provided a link for is a full cover, weighs in at 1.2 lbs., and fits into an 11 x 2 x 8 inch bag, which like I said, will fit nicely underneath the tour pack rack and not hit the fender if strapped tightly. If I can take a full cover with me, why not cover the whole bike, I think. This will take up no room in the already crowded tour pack and saddlebags that way. Just wondering if any one has used one of these guys covers or suggest something similar size/weight wise.

 

I use a thin cheap generic full bike cover on a Road King when traveling.
Cover gets stuffed in its own little soft bag about the size of a coffee can and sometimes soft bag is just tied to bike if all travel bags are stuffed..
The cover is made of some thin cheap umbrella nylon material but is not 100% waterproof .
It keeps bike dry enough through the worst of storms...bike looks misty some times after a long storm.
I placed some white/silver reflective stickers on front of cover and red reflective stickers on back of cover..
Seen too many times when someone thinks parking spot is empty at hotel since a bike occupies less space and tries to speed into parking space...reflective stickers are higher and catches line of sight earlier.
The generic cover reduces the number of people trying to sit on bike and kinda/sorta reduces the visual magnet for kids and others.
Cover falls apart after about 5 years but they are acquired for under $30.
The key is to tie cover tight at center of bike so that cover does not balloon due to wind and fly off.
