IMHO, the EITMS will help keep the rear cylinder cooler when you're idling standing still. But as many of us do, we ride slowly, inching along sometimes in traffic. The fan will help keep the oil cooler.
I installed a fan on mine AND enabled the EITMS to maximize the cooling effect.

Best thing I ever did to my Road King, it helped allot. I wish there was a way to add one to my twin cooled ultra but the water pump is where the oil cooler would go.
Go for it, you won't regret it and it'll give you some peace of mind.

Yes, it helps. Having a fan would definitely help as well.

I think it is. I just had it programmed on my bike. It kicks in when the head temp reaches 345 degrees.

I installed the fan a couple years ago to try and lower the heat I feel while sitting atop a 1700cc air cooled motor. It don't believe it's helped me with felt heat. As long as the exhaust, especially the catalytic converter, are right next to your leg I don't think that is going to change. I'm sure it does what it should and cools the oil at slower speeds but I'm not sure how much of that is noticeable. I believe the fan is only active at 45 mph and slower, considering when you're riding at speed the vehicle movement forces the air through the cooler. The only time you will hear the fan is when you purposely activate it while the bike is off. While the bike is running you will not hear it.

If I were to get another bike, I would not add the oil cooler fan as I did not feel there was a noticeable benefit, especially for the couple hundred dollars I paid.
