Locate a high mileage Ultra?

Locate a high mileage Ultra?
Where do you findold, used Ultra Classics, preferably a 1998 or newer? One that is in reasonablydecent (for the year)mechanical shape but with extremely high mileage. I am looking ahead fora winter project. I want a bikeI canreplace the enginewith some new muscle as well as tocustomize to suit, at least until thefinances run out. I was hoping to pick up an old bikefor 5 to 6 thousand dollars.Unfortunately, these are impossible to find. All the bikes in this vintage, even the one's with 70,000+ miles, are still commanding a huge price tag. The dealerships don'teven keep these worn outmodels. Where do these "over the hill" bikes go? Is there an old Ultra Classic graveyard in the sky?

FWIW, look hard for a carburated model ... the early Marzetti injection was nothing to write home about (according to every H-D tech & service manger I've talked to).
NADA.com shows average retail at $9995, low retail at $7600. For a bike that's ten model years old, that seems about right.
This 1998 (Burlington, WI) is $10500 http://www.hdtrader.com/display/picture.asp?sku=59971
This 1998 (Greenfield, WI) is also $10500 http://www.hdtrader.com/display/picture.asp?sku=56043
The first was listed just two days ago, the second has been out there for over two months, so that price is probably negotiable.

I guess I got lucky and tripped over a 2000 EGC/FI with 7K miles and in mint condition. Original owner, bone stock except for HWY pegs, S&E slip onsand all HD services documented. All for less than $12K It's my first Harley after riding over 30 years ago on a Honda. Really enjoying retired life.
