I must have missed something? You didn't like the small end of the pigtail sticking out from basically the bottom of the bike, where only you could see it and you DID THAT INSTEAD...

It looks much better now. My ‘03 pigtail was near the saddlebag. A little hard yo reach but safe. My ‘12 it’s near the starter. Easy to reach, but too close to the exhaust. I need to reroute it.

Looks good. If I had the mid-frame heat deflectors, that would be my preferred location. After seeing how the OP's update turned out, I may go that route (facia rubber plug mount).

Chiming back in to maybe help others avoid a potential issue. The thing hit my leg.
Lucky I had a spare heat shield from another project on the shelf... Moved the port down.
Not really super happy where it ended up (kills my OCD) but it works. I had to put it this low because of the adjustable backrest lever that's hidden under there.
