Hmmm, maybe things are different out west. I ride for hours listening to music, using GPS etc and the phone would go dead if it was just in my pocket. I have it plugged in for sometimes 12 hours or more, hasn't hurt it any.
I absolutely LOVE wireless CarPlay for the convenience. I have CPlay2Air units in my SG and my cars and love them.
I've got power in my side bag for charging on long rides. Hands-down beats the time and effort in and out of the cubby-hole for me.
My 2019 BMW X6 will do Carplay without being plugged in without any attachments. I dont think its possible to do it just over bluetooth (or else our bike would support it), but I turned off WiFi on my phone once and got an error message that if I wanted to use Carplay without being plugged in I needed to turn WiFi back in, I wonder if it's using the WiFi (that I didnt know I had) in the car. Weird.
