Beemer.....I have a set of Screamin' Eagle "Street Performance" slip-ons for my 07 FLHT. They're louder and deeper than the stock pipes, but are still street and EPA legal. For me, they are not too quiet.....not too loud....but just right!

 

I'm looking for the same mufflers. I had V&H Big Shots Staggereds on my previous Heritage and they were loud and sounded great for short trips. Now that I have the bagger I want quiet but yet want it to sound like a Harley. I rode my friend's '08 Street Glide with Rush 1.75 mufflers and they were just about the perfect sound I'm looking for. Loud enough and deep enough to sound good when you crack the throttle, yet at speed I had no trouble hearing the radio and none of that constant pounding that I had with the V&H.

As to the SE street legal mufflers, I put those on my Heritage first and couldn't tell much difference from stock.

I think I'm going to go with the Rush very soon.

 

I have Kerker Slip ons and I think they have a great sound to them but at 70 MPH I can still listen to the radio.

Good luck and I agree with an earlier post go to Bike Nite and listen because everyone has different taste.

I'll be in the market soon. Any idea if the Pythons are a bit louder than the new SE Mufflers? I'm another one that wants some noise but doesn't want it to interfere with listening to radio.
I have older SE Mufflers on my Sportster and am thinking they might be to loud or atthe limitfor radio listening??

 

My dealer in Erie sell the Rush Mufflers. Are the 1.5's louder than the new SE's?

 

I have Supertrapp SE's...good balance between volume and performance

 

I installed a set of street legal Street Performance one piece mufflers (80491-07) on my '06 Ultra with a 95" build and PCIII. The mufflers are a little louder and deeper sounding than stock but a lot quieter than most after market mufflers. I can hear my radio just fine on the Interstate. They also flow better than stock and yield a slight increase in performance. These mufflers with stock headers dyno'ed out at 87HP and 92.4 TQ on my scooter.

 

have you tried ear plugs for long distance rides? I have SEIII and use ear plugs for hiway miles.

 

When I asked the Dealer in Tucson he had bikes on display with both the SE pipes and the Python slip ons. I could compare the two side by side almost. I ordered the Pythons. Plus they were about $200 bucks cheaper

 

I installed my Rush 1.75" yesterday and the sound is exactly what I was looking for. It now sounds like a Harley but not obnoxiously loud. At 70 mph I can hear the stereo with the volume set the same as with the stock pipes. When you crack the throttle, it barks a bit.
