I'll put the new shotgun on hole and do the install, if HD steps up in the future they will owe me a shotgun.

FX4 - you just made my argument with your statement:

Number one post on this board is in this section. Lots of dumped 07s and lots of people working real hard to figure out what is going on with these bikes.
If indeed there is something "wrong" then HD should fix it. I know, I know, the economics aren't there to do so, and the demand for HD's isn't softening, so they wont fix a problem unless it is a safety issue. Bottom line is this "fix" will make HD and the dealers installing them a sh!tload of money. I am not telling anyone not to go ahead and install the IDS, as all of us spend our money in the way we wish, but in this case I see HD's little bean counters jumping up and down for joy.
eye roll - Nope and HD does not have a history of making bad designs right for customers. Read away its all in there. Some dealers including mine are trying to make it right, others just turn their backs on people.

I have 150 miles on my 08 FLHTCU with the IDS system....IT works great. I`m going to put it on my 07 FLHX soon.

I rented 2 different '07s on different occasions. Both had terrible whinning. Clearly there is a problemwith "some" (apparently not all) '07s. I have no whinning on my '08. If the IDS works, who gives a rats *** what profits moco makes. If it's too upsetting, buy metric. $200 bucks to make a good ride better? No brainer.

Well I think all of us with the clatter buckets would like the MoCo to step up, but at least there seems to be a solution. It seems to have solved eight out of ten clattering bikes that have it installed. The other two bikes probably have one of the other bigger issues going on.

Could you kindly refer me to the two non-solving reports?

One I have read the other was referred to by folks talking about it in the drive line section. The one post I read also in the driveline section said it smoothed his bike out on the highway but the clatter is not gone. I believe Rmsurvers talked about the other one. I did not chase it down. Having followed this issue closely and knowing that there is more than one source of the noise for the clatter buckets it didn't surprise me that it is not fixing a few bikes. My dealer actually believes my clattering is a different issue, but I told them I want to install this part before we go tearing into the engine. Actually it is surprising me that the IDS is fixing so many. I'm happy, but surprised.

i had the same result ..... theIDS works great, it eliminated the dreadful clatters! for those of you waiting for hd to step in and pay for this thing...good luck. it took them one year to calm this buckets of bolts down, they r not about to mail u a check. we've all whizzed an ez $300 away on chrome, spend it on an IDS, your bike will feel like a whole new machine.
