Default Slip on Fishtails

Looking at getting me some 36" slip on fishtales...but don't want to lose compression in my motor . All the slip ons have that FAT looking fishtale . Was thinking about getting "toqure cones" . Need some advice on what I should do . Thanks

Got 36" fishtails on my '08 FLHT. I installed baffles to keep the back pressure from disappearing. Tames the bark, but it's still plenty loud enough for my liking. Also, a LOT easier than installing torque cones. I measured how deep the head pipe is into the muffler, and drilled the mount holes appropriate to that, since they can't be installed from the outlet end. 20 minute job. BTW, mine are NOT the "fat" pipes. 1.75 diameter the entire length. Engine also has the stage 1 intake and feuling reaper torque cams, along with a fuel tuner, so the fuel mix is still good.

Big City Thunder is a great place to get the baffles. Just call and tell them how your bike is set up and give 'em a CC card number. They'll do the rest. Having a tuner is probably a necessity if you go this way

Cheapies from Dennis Kirk. Don't remember the brand name. Basically straight pipes with the fishtail I think I paid around $170 for them. Good chrome for inexpensive pipes, fit was as good as any other pipes I've ever bought.

Only difference I see is that mine has true dual head pipes, rather than the factory headers pipes. Runs cooler, and if I lost a couple pounds of torque, well, I'm not racing it, and where I ride on the tach, I don't notice the loss. The cams and fuel tuner seem to take care of that for me.

Correct, I did not purchase the the true duals. I went the cheap route first to see if the bike would run well. Once I had it dialed in, I figured leave well enough alone.

The one thing I do like about my setup is that since I mounted the baffles inside the headers, I can easily change mufflers.
