Default voltage drop

Tonight while riding my 04 Ultra down the highway I noticed my lights dimmed and the volts on the meter dropped to about 12, then after a few seconds the lights got bright and the volt meter jumped back up to around 15 or so. It did this several times... any ideas on what might be wrong. I'm about afraid to get it out on any rides for fear of something going wrong. thanks for any input.

Mine just did that , it is the regulater, if you keep riding it the stator and rotor will go out

IMHO you may want to also check the battery. I have an 04 injected and the long and short is it was the battery....

Be smart about trouble shooting so you don't waste time and money. How would anybody know if "it's your regulator" unless they had the bike in front of them and did the correct tests.

Try checking the battery terminals. If they are loose you would experience the symptoms you mention. Check all electrical connections between the stator, battery and regulator. Bad connections are a likely cause of regulator failure.

Wouldn't you be pissed if you shelled out the money for a new regulator just because a forum member said that was your problem, omly to find out your battery terminals had loosened?

Again, I found the regulator to be bad. This link explains everything involved with this post. https://www.hdforums.com/m_2035815/m...tm.htm#2035815 Again, I accidently posted the org post twice, so this is no longer a problem, thanks for alls concern. The link is actually worth reading concerning this issue.
