Default 06 SG problems..UPDATE,bike running again!

11K on the clock
*batwing inner fairing rattling
*gas cap rattling
*steering lock/ignition switch(already fixed once by dealer, still not working properly...)
*valve train noise
*HK cd going to "mute" every 2 seconds for no reason
*noisy tranny
*lots of heat from the engine
*crank position sensor (still having a trouble code after it was fixed and cleared, no rideability issues though)
*idle rpm goes to 2500 after a ride on the highway and won´t come down unless engine is killed and started again. (no fix found yet, going to dealer 8/20)
etc.

Regret buying this SG? HELL NO!! Great ride, really like it, although too many issues for a "quality bike".But hey, it´s a Harley! (and how dumb are we, still buyingHarleys after everything we know about these things???)

Had"real fun"riding last friday, SG started acting up, coughing and sputtering, revs went from 2500 to 0 to 2500 couple of times and then the sucker died. Managed to ride it back home, codes po 373 and 374. Rode on saturday 60 miles to a dealer to fix warranty issues(change to 25deg injectors+new map for ecmand fix the ignition switch) and to fix this new problem. Also complained about that idle speed going up to 2500 to 3000 and idle not coming down until engine is shut off and started again (hmm, reboot, sounds like a Windows to me...) The bike has S/E mufflers, air filter and PCIII, dealer installed when it was new.

Long story short, the ign switch needs a new fix, lock is now working but acc not..Trouble code 374 appeared as I rode away from the dealer, however the engine was running ok. Idle was ok for 30 miles, then again tried pulling the clutch and WTF, idle was 2500 - 3000(even going up from 2000 when cruising to 2500 as soon as I pulled the clutch...) Called the mechanic, said he fixed code 374, installed a new crank position sensor and can´t understand why the code reappeared. For that idle the only thing he can think about now is that PCIII is f*cked up. On 8/20 going to an other dealer, the one that installed that PC and see if they can get it fixed.(and the trouble code, and the HKcd etc....)

Anyone having the samekind of problems w/ PCIII installed?(yes sir, tried "search".Found one similar situation topic from somewhere preWW2 era, but no help from there...)Or is it something else and not the PCIII:s fault that idle is stuck so high?No cables stucking, I looked at it so did that mechanicAny thoughts of that code 374? Is the crank shooting itself out of the block or what the heck is it...

And just for the record, I´m still quiteok with the way the mechanic has handled this sh*t, he soundeda bit PO`d when I called, not because Icalled but because he couldn´t get my bike fixed as he thought. He was helpful and said that he´ll contact HD importer of Finland about the ignition switch problem and these new problems.(how the importer handles this, well that´s a whole other story...Hopefully they are as helpful as this dealer has been) And after he heard that I´ll be going to a 3000+ miles trip to europe on september he said that they could install VH fuelpack and stock airfilter so I could make my trip safely. I said thanks but no thanks, I´ll ride the bike to that other dealer who installed the PCIII and let them figure out what to do with it.And BTW he didn´ttry to fixmy bike withJBweld.(just had to...sorry guys...)

Is that two words? Heck if I know, I´m from Finland, we don´t use that stuff! Not even on Harleys...

Another 06 SG without a flaw. 18000 Km just replaced the back tire andhad the two recalls done. Otherwise never even been at the dealer. Just seems to run and sound better every day.

Not too many issues on my 06 Street Glide. Got one of the 1st around here in Aug 05. A couple of recalls (Fairing/Ignition) along with the horn problem, motor mount breaking, and both brackets cracking inside the front fairing leading to six shorts. Guess that is adding up isn't it. I hate to hear about your problems.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your bike. I have just over 12,200 miles on mine and have not had any issues with it. I have a PCIII, SE/AC,Vance & Vines duels. Bike runs strong and never has let me down. Heat was reduced a lot by installing the duels.

Ride Safe,

Mike

Right off, I would suspect the PCIII. The only way to know is to replace it, or try running without it, which I wouldn't do for very long unless you also have the HD download. Good luck.
