They were using a "quad seal oring" and it must have leaked because the switched to the gasket around '05 and it sounds like now they came up with another o-ring. They all work ok, last year I bought a "service kit" from the dealer that had the gaskets and drain o-rings together.

Do you have the original derby cover, or is it a Skull, live to ride, etc. Collection cover. If it is one odf the collection covers it calls for the solid gasket(old style)

tizone, why do need to take the floorboard off?? I use a torx screwdriver from sears and the screws come right out on mine. If its too much of an angle on the screw, there are ball ended torx screwdrivers out there, just for that purpose. Just an idea.
